what a rose can say?

Posted by abie on 11:54 PM in
Thanks Farah for this nice tag. Much appreciated!

What A Rose Can Say
A rose can say I love you and want you to be mine,
A rose can say I thank you for being so very kind,
A rose can say congratulations, whatever the occasion may be,
A rose can say I miss you and wish you were here with me,
A rose can say I'm sorry if I've hurt you in any way,
A rose can say get well soon, May God bless you today,
A rose can say I wish you happiness, and the best for you each day.
A rose can say farewell when someone goes away,
A rose can say hello, I'm thinking of you today,
There's just so many wonderful things that a rose can say,
A rose can say goodbye when a love one is laid to rest,
No matter what there is to say, a rose can say it best.

Lifelock Promo Code: I want one

Posted by abie on 11:05 PM in ,
I received a email from a friend reminding to be careful every time we receive emails especially from a very suspicious sender. She just got an email which looks like a valid email from paypal asking her to validate some of her paypal details. If she was not careful, she would have entered her paypal details and her paypal account must have been ripped off by now.

This is just a simple way on how people can hack your account and take your money. But there are a lot of high tech ways where any hacker can steal money from your account or your identity and use it to get credit or purchase anything under your name. Remember the movie Swordfish by Hugh Jackman where he plays the role of a very good hacker and was able to transfer millions of dollar on John Travolta’s account through hacking?

You see, cyber crimes like hacking and identity theft are very rampant nowadays. I have been visiting lifelock.com and have found out all about this types of cyber crimes and identity theft cases and how consumers can get protected from this.

This really makes me want to avail of the lifelock promotion code to enroll myself and my husband to their system. I think, getting protection from identity theft is not just a luxury nowadays but is a real need for all of the consumers and I think now is the best time to enroll since they are offering lifelock promo code.

Blood Type Tag

Posted by abie on 11:02 PM in
I got this tag from Vien. Thanks sis.

I'm a TYPE O person. I agree with some of the description described there but I don’t think I am that vain since I’m really a low maintenance type of person. LOL.

According to a Japanese institute that does research on blood types, there are certain personality traits that seem to match up with certain blood types.

TYPE O
You want to be a leader, and when you see something you want, you keep striving until you achieve your goal. You are a trend-setter, loyal, passionate, and self-confident. Your weaknesses include vanity and jealousy and a tendency to be too competitive.

TYPE A
You like harmony, peace and organization. You work well with others, and are sensitive, patient and affectionate. Among your weaknesses are stubbornness and an inability to relax.

TYPE B
You're a rugged individualist, who's straightforward and likes to do things your own way. Creative and flexible, you adapt easily to any situation. But your insistence on being independent can sometimes go too far and become a weakness.

TYPE AB
Cool and controlled, you're generally well liked and always put people at ease. You're a natural entertainer who's tactful and fair. But you're standoffish, blunt, and have difficulty making decisions.

So what’s your blood type? Just snag this tag freely if you want so I will know too what is your blood type and some of your characteristics.

Lifelock Promotion Code: Should I avail it?

Posted by abie on 10:48 PM in , ,
I have done some online shopping lately and I have ordered a school bag for my cousin. Their first day of class will be next week already and her bag hasn’t arrived yet so she has been bugging me and has been asking me for days now on when her bag will arrive. My brother over heard our conversation and he can’t help but say his piece. He warned us about the danger of online shopping and giving our credit card details online. He said that he has a friend whose hobby is to hack other people’s credit card details and use it to order anything online. He said that his friend has been doing this for years now and he has ordered a lot of things online by using other people’s credit card.

I was stunned since I am really a fan of online shopping and I have entered my credit card details a number of times already every time I buy something online. This really made me realize the value of life lock.

You see I have been reading their site, especially now that they are offering lifelock promotion code, and I realized that identity theft is really common nowadays. Of course we live in a high tech world so anything is really possible. Technology really has its advantages and disadvantages.

After reading the lifelock review, I am really convinced that we really have to get tools to combat and protect ourselves from crimes such as identity theft. We can never be too careful in this high tech world that we live in now where anything is really possible.

Lifelock.com and my Friend Jacq

Posted by abie on 10:13 PM in ,
I love to shop online. Ever since it was introduced to me by my friend Peachy, I have been addicted to shopping online ever since. Who wouldn’t? It is so convenient since I can do my shopping anytime that I like at the convenience of my own home. Plus some online stores offer great discounts and I can even use coupon codes for my purchases for added discounts.

But I have a friend in the United States who tries to avoid shopping online as much as possible. In fact she and her husband even do their banking transactions personally in the bank and they don’t want to do anything online. Since identity theft is a rampant case in the US, they are too careful for anything that they do online since they are worried that they too might become victims of identity theft.

Imagine they are already living in a first world country but they try to avoid the convenience of online transactions. So I gave them the site of lifelock.com. I told them that I have been reading Life Lock’s website and I have learned that they have tools that can help consumers be protected and prevent identity theft.

They are so open to the idea of enrolling in the program. They have been reading LifeLock reviews and they are happy and convince with the testimonials given by the consumers who are enrolled in the Life Lock system. They say that this might be the solution to make them free of their worries for identity theft and so they can get to enjoy the convenience that I am getting for doing everything online.

Lifelock Reviews by consumers & Hacking

Posted by abie on 9:55 PM in ,
Oh my gosh, my friend’s credit card account has been hacked. She just got her bill for this month and was shocked to find out that someone purchased something online under her account. She will not mind if it is just a few hundred bucks but we are talking of a big amount of money here.

She was crying while she was telling me what happened and I don’t know what to do to console her. It is easy for me to say to just let it go since I am not the victim here. I know it would really be difficult for her to accept it since it is hard earned money.

I have been reading lifelock reviews by consumers, and I have learned that this kind of experience is very common especially now that we live in a high tech world where everything is really possible. And that is the reason why more and more consumers are using their lifelock promo codes to enroll themselves to the life lock system. This is their only way to get protection and tool for the prevention of this kind of experience from happening to them.

I don’t know if there is still something that my friend can do to debit the amount back from his credit card account but I don’t think the credit card company will do that. I think the only thing that she can do now is to get protection too, like most consumers are doing now and enroll to the life lock system too.

What characteristics of a school
are you looking for?

Bela is an incoming preschooler this school year at Toddlers Unlimited. Some say that I’m over acting, but we really had a hard time deciding where to send Bela to school (and this is just play school. So I can just imagine, how confuse I will get if it is already the big school).

When I was looking for a good play school for Bela, I researched and read the reviews and feedbacks of parents who have send their kids to the schools that I am considering. That is a big factor for me. I want to hear feedbacks from other parents as they can at least give me an idea about their experiences with the school and how they like the program.

Another factor that I considered in looking for a school for Bela is the methods of teaching. I did some research and I am more for the progressive methods so schools that employs this method is at the top of my list.

When we were searching for Bela’s school, we also made it a point to sit in and observe in one of the class so I can see how my daughter would react to the new environment. We visited 4 schools and we prefer the school in Quezon City as it is near our place but Bela doesn’t even want to go inside the school premises which is a sign that she doesn’t like it there. On the other hand, we can see how much she likes the environment at Toddlers Unlimited. So even though it is more than an hour drive from our place, we preferred Toddlers among the other schools that we visited.

I also take into consideration the teacher to student ratio. For me the lower is the teacher to student ratio, the better as the teachers can very well concentrate on the needs of all the students.

I know these are just minor considerations but these are things that I considered when I was looking for a play school for my 2.6 year old daughter. And I know the characteristics that I’m looking for, for my daughter’s school will definitely change as she enters big school next year.

My Charity work

Posted by abie on 11:12 PM in
A few weeks ago, there was a booth of UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund) at the Podium level of our building. UNICEF is an agency devoted to the welfare of children and they provide long-term humanitarian and developmental assistance to children and mothers in developing countries. Every lunch break, I can see UNICEF volunteers trying to encourage passersby to give donations to UNICEF to support their cause.

I wanted to inquire and approach one of the UNICEF volunteers on how I can make a donation but since I am out only during lunch break, I am always in a hurry and never had a chance to talk to any of them. So one day, I was ready to inquire and talk to the volunteers but I was so disappointed since when I went to the Podium, their booth is no longer there.

You see, things have been a little good for me this year. My family has received a lot of blessing and so I just want to share the blessing that I am receiving by giving some help to charity. So I have been searching the net on how I can make a donation to charity until I discovered Car Angel.

IMG_9564

Car Angel is a different kind of organization. They help orphans, youth at risk and homeless kids with the car donations that they get from people who wants to help charity. They can help you donate your car and the proceeds of the sales of this car will go to the support of their charity work for the homeless kids and orphans.

After reading what they do, I got really interested since we have one used car in our garage which has been sitting there for years now and is just collecting dust. This is one good way to dispose it and at the same time, this is one way of donating to charity.

Aside from doing charity work, they also produce free DVDs for kids and they send this Christian animation DVDs to kids all over the world free of charge. Their cause is really great so I’m really looking forward in donating our car to them.

Guam??

Posted by abie on 11:09 PM in
I was waiting for the clock to hit 4:30 this afternoon and while I was waiting I happen to check the website of one of the travel agency that I sometimes use for our travel needs. I tried looking for the cost of airfare to Guam and I was surprised to find out that the airfare is quite affordable compared to other US destinations.

It suddenly gives me an idea to meet hubby there on his way back to Manila from his three weeks of temporary duty to Majuro come last week of June. I asked around and the sound of outlet stores with no tax is so tempting.

Oh well, I still haven’t decided yet. The plan is we will just meet Howell there so it means if I want to bring Bela, I will be the only one traveling with her for six hours which I think would be very difficult knowing how active a kid she is. The second option is I would leave her for 4 days and it will just me and Howell in Guam. Hmm, although I’m not sure if I can do this.

I’ll decide this weekend. I’m still waiting for the hotel and airfare package that I requested from the travel agency and then I will decide from there. I also have to check the weather too in Guam because it might be the rainy season there come June. And as what Jane told me, if it is raining, then there is really nothing much to do there.

We will see.

Life Can Always be Tough

Posted by abie on 4:50 PM in , ,
Life indeed is very unpredictable. There are lots of ups and downs that we have to face. Sometimes, it’s hard for us to deal with all the pressures in our life. There are times that we can’t actually understand some situations that are happening to us. More often, we are having a hard time to surpass all the trials that we encounter.

As we go on with our life, we have to be more prudent with all the decisions that we are going to make. We have to work harder in order for us to survive and have a better way of living. We have to be more practical since life today is not that easy.

This is the main reason why I always work hard to provide the needs of my family. I always want the best for them especially for my daughter. In fact, as early as now, my daughter has her own savings account so she can have an assurance for her own future. I know this can be one of the greatest ways of providing my daughter the best things for her life. Of course as a mother, I don’t want her to experience too many hardships, so I always give her the things that she definitely needs.

We should always remember to be ready so when time comes that we need support, we can have something to use to provide our needs. It’s not wrong to invest in something that will eventually make our life more meaningful.

Game Time

What a better complement to a weekend of glitz and dazzle and take time out from the hustle and bustle of city living is of course to be in the company of my most love family. That is why I always grab and never had second thoughts whenever there is an opportunity for us to have a good and nice vacation. It really is a seething feeling to everyone as we all flash a megawatt smile and enjoy the exhilarating adventures that we completed together.

While enjoying the perks of the weekend splendors with my family, adding spice to this invigorating escapade, I can also find sometime to continue enjoy the thrill and excitement of playing in the casinos though I am miles away from my favorite playing venues as I always carry something extra in case of emergency. At the end of the day, unwinding but not exhausted, my laptop is my universal remote control that allows me to savor and play the latest online games with the same gaming experience and winning thrills of casino games by the fascinating online casinos. Sitting or snuggled in my paralleled universe in the cozy and beautiful room, we tried our lucks and play the games together. Add a dash of romance to the wonderful time is a toast of a sweet kiss whenever a win is in the bag.

Ouch

Posted by abie on 12:40 PM in
Last weekend, I was able to buy two pairs of shoes at discounted prices. One was a simple black flat while the second one is a pointed bright red shoe.

So I was really excited and I wore the black one yesterday and at the end of the day, it gave me a blister.

Then today, I was wearing a black pants so I thought, my flaming red shoes would go well with the black pants that I am wearing. So even though my feet are still aching from my shoe break in the other day, I dared wear my red shoe because I thought it would really look good.

I was doing ok at first since Howell dropped me off at the terminal where I will get my ride to Makati. But as soon as I get off the FX and walked to my building, I can feel how painful my shoe was. Since it was pointed, I can almost feel my fingers being squished. And then the project manager for our renovation project decided to ask for my help in checking our telecom closet so we have to go around the 6th, 7th and 8th floor to check all the closets, and men it was really painful.

Oh well, just like what they say, bear the pain if I want to look good. LOL. But next time, I have to bring extra comfortable shoes so at least I have something to wear while doing my work and I don’t have to bear with the pain the whole day.

Weekend Snapshot # 4 - Father & Daughter’s Bonding Time

Posted by abie on 10:40 AM in

I just so love this picture. I took this picture just last week while my husband and our daughter were watching Baby Einstein. Look at how glued to the screen my daughter was. She just loves this show that it has become her daily bedtime routine. She has to watch her favorite Baby Einstein series first before going to bed. But I think this is good as the show is really educational and I believe this is where she got all her knowledge about animals.

This is also our bonding tine before bed time as my daughter loves us to watch and enjoy the show with her. She would identify all the animals that she can see in the show, she would sing all the songs and dance while singing too.

My Thursday Morning Bloopers

Posted by abie on 12:44 PM in
I have to take the jeepney on my way to the terminal where I will take my ride going to Makati. I paid P8.00 and was waiting for the driver to give me my change. Since the driver hasn’t given me my change and I’m already approaching the terminal, I asked him for it. And then one of the passengers told me that the fare has been increased to P8.00 already. Oops, sorry I did not know. Good thing another passengers reacted and said that they fare increase will be effective come Friday.

Moral of the story: I should at leas try to read the newspaper or watch the evening news so at least I get to be updated with what’s going on.

==

Then I was sleeping on my way to work this morning and when I opened my eyes, it is already the unloading area where I have to get off. So I hurriedly opened the door to get out of the FX. Good thing it is still a red light so I was able to get off. Otherwise, I have to wait for the next unloading area which is 2-3 blocks away from my office and I might arrive late which is the last thing I would want to happen.

coffee break ver. 1.10

Posted by abie on 9:40 PM in

I have been busy lately that I was not able to participate in the past coffee break sessions. I missed answering Jan’s coffee break questions so even though I’m still busy, I have to make a way to squeeze it in my schedule.

For this week’s coffee break question:

How would you spend a rainy day on a lazy afternoon?

I love rainy days. I love it better than the summer months. I remember during our childhood, my aunt or my grand mother would cook champorado for snack and we would all love to eat it while listening to the sound of raindrops outside.

I would still love to spend rainy days that way. I miss my grand mother’s champorado. I also love to spend it just chilling, lying cozily in our bedroom, playing with our daughter or just watching our daughter’s favorite movie with her.

If only I can do this everyday instead of having to spend a gloomy, rain day in the office.

Weekend Snapshot # 3 - Bookworm

Posted by abie on 10:14 AM in

Right before bedtime, Bela would love to read books. This is one of her CD Story book which I bought when I was still pregnant with her.

She loves browsing through the pictures as the book includes stories of her favourite Disney movies like Toy Story, Finding Nemo and Monsters Inc. She was even laughing while she was browsing the book.

And you might ask why she is wearing a Christmas hat. She saw this when I was cleaning up our cabinet and she kept on saying “Merry Christmas, Ho, ho, ho, ho.” At first I can’t understand why she was saying Merry Christmas until I saw this hat inside the cabinet. And so I gave it to her and she excitedly wore it and kept on saying “Merry Christmas, Ho, Ho, Ho.”

Floral Art Zone

Posted by abie on 9:39 PM in
I only have less than two (2) weeks to go on the schedule house blessing of our newly built love nest but its walls still sans of the art paintings I wistfully desire to hang. None of the art galleries that I have visited suit the kind I need.

With ambivalent thought whether to move the blessing to another date I decided to go to my mom’s house to seek her advice. When I narrated to her my problem she did not say nothing but instead brought me to her bedroom and made to sit in front of their computer that was already turned on. She asked me to log it at http://www.beautifulrealart.com/articles and said “okay baby, this site will provide everything you need so relax enjoy leafing I’ll be outside to do some chores”.

As I gradually explore the site I was awesomely amazed it has complete collections of art paintings and drawings with a kind of promise of convenience that would blend well for the perfect backdrop of our idyllic home that I’ve been looking for. The startling fact about its abstract, landscaped, floral, water color and mix media arts collection is for them being 100% masterfully hand crafted that are a tapestry of life across social and cultural boundaries that exudes an aura of lightness and serenity. Every single canvass is original art hand work of the artist that adds a fusion of happiness and prosperity every owner can be proud off. The magic hands and outstanding talents of the artist are absolutely gorgeous to greatly enhance the picture of perfection in capturing and presenting the true essence of the subject. They are not only technically flawless but also aesthetically uncompromised and lauded by any connoisseurs.

Adding delight to my astounding discovery as I explore deeper into this magnificent http://www.beautifulrealart.com/ is its very reasonable prices for their art merchandize which come cheaper to some reproduce art paintings other galleries are offering. Its offer of 15 days grace period refund for any art item delivered that does not meet the satisfaction level of the customers boost more of its credentials to become the real floral zone of every art loving individuals. The site is the exact and ideal venue enamored with everything in relation to art and excellent passion to create all things bright and beautiful with highly sense of styles and floral architect geneuity.

The story is over a month old now and the house blessing pushed thru as shindig as it was planned. Thanks mom that I become aware of this site. It’s a real great catch that I will continue to cherish and I’m sure you too will!!!

That’s my destiny with Destiny

That’s my destiny with Destiny

Our Destiny connection was down again since Thursday afternoon. We tried to call them and have to deal with their technical support system that really sucks and they promised to send a technician the next day. But of course, connection is still down until Friday.

That is the reason why I was not online since Thursday. For some of you who has left me an offline message, I was able to read it and so sorry if I was not able to reply right away. Specially to Big Eyed Gal since our connection was cut when we are in the middle of our conversation.

The last time this happened, the connection was down for five days I think. If only we have an alternative connection in our building, we might really dropped Destiny and go look fro a much better and reliable connection.

So if you are really considering on getting Destiny’s Internet connection, I tell go get something else as their service really sucks.

Mother's Care

Posted by abie on 9:01 AM in ,

Its more than two (2) years now since I gave birth to our first daughter and dear little angel and our great bundle of joys Ysabela Margrette. She has become one of my happiest and most rewarding experiences in my life. Though I’m a working mom, I still find quality time in purchasing the best infant need of our baby from aveeno baby wash shampoo and toiletries. And while I and my husband were in office I feel confident that she’ll be safe with her nanny who’ll attend to her needs with the keen supervision of grandma and grandpa who happened to be among our neighbors.

Because every month she needs to be conveyed to visit her pediatrician, concern about her travel safety, I and hubby consulted once again our favorite web site to look for the best car seat to buy with impeccable assurance to staunch the welfare of our dear daughter’s travel. And as we ambled browsing, we realized as ubiquitously presented by the site that soon our baby will need a crib and moses basket as well as stroller for her comfort and good development, to save time and effort we decided to order them and delivered at the same time.
Today our great little angel is about three (3) years old and this coming school opening she is already enrolled to one of the best toddler school here in town. Everyday is a new day for her and mom as she continues to discover her world and I continue to discover her. As a working mother though the balance between work and motherhood is a constant struggle, we both continue to enjoy best of both worlds. When I’m home I make sure to spend quality time with her, as we both watched her favorite DVD’s, or play and sing with her and rewarding each other with the most beguiling big hugs and kisses most of the time.

How did we celebrate Mother’s day?

Posted by abie on 12:43 PM in , , ,
This is a delayed Mother’s day post.

We didn’t have anything planned last Sunday for Mother’s day as hubby promised her mom that we will hear mass with them at Megamall. Honestly, I would have wanted to go out of town, just the three of us, me, Howell and Bela. This is my third mother’s day celebration and now that Bela is a little aware of what’s going on, I would have wanted to celebrate it differently. But oh well, I have no control of the situation so maybe next year.

We left the house a little after lunch to meet Howell’s family at Megamall. Howell’s bother is the mass officiator for the 2:00 PM mass here so her mom all wanted us to attend mass there. After the mass, we just had snack (and a late lunch for them) at Kenny Roger’s. Bela was getting cranky by the time our orders were served so I was not able to eat as Bela wants to play outside the restaurant.

We parted ways with Howell’s family after eating. We were able to check out some of the stores and I was able to buy new goggles at Speedo for Bela. After Megamall, we head to Greenhills since we need to meet with our album supplier.

Things didn’t go out as how I would like to celebrate Mother’s day, but at the end of the day, all is good as I spent the whole day with my precious daughter and husband. And do check out Bela’s Mother’s day gift for me here.

Weekend Snapshot # 2 - Swimming Class

I took these pictures during my daughter’s swimming class last Saturday (Yes, I’m the photographer this time as my husband has to accompany my daughter to class).

My daughter just loves her swimming class so much. What I like about the class is they tailor it base on the children’s age. They use toys like plastic balls and rubber toys so students will be entice to play while they’re in the water.

Crepes n’ Cream again

Posted by abie on 2:00 PM in
Last Monday, we have to drop by our album supplier to submit for processing the album of one of our clients. On our way there, Howell made a wrong turn and instead we head towards Robinson’s Place Ermita.

I immediately look and say “Can you treat me for a sweet crepe at Crepes n’ Cream?” As it turns out, he is craving for it too so I don’t have to do a lot of convincing. He dropped me off at the drop off area of the new wing and I head straight to the Crepes n Cream booth.

As always, there is a long queue but I amuse myself while waiting for our order by watching at the crew as they prepare the orders. That’s one thing I like about Crepes n’ Creams, you can see how they work because their work area is visible to the customers so you can witness how they clean up, how they prepare the crepes, and how they maintain their sanitation.

Howell ordered his usual favorite, Banana Hazelnut while I tried the Mango sweet crepe this time. As usual, we finished our crepe in just a few minutes and we’re both happy that we we’re able to satisfy our craving again.

False Alarm

Posted by abie on 11:59 PM in
The other night while I was surfing the net and Howell was enjoying watching the do or die NBA game between Boston Celtics his favorite team Atlanta Hawks, I was irked by his constant tapping on my back and shoulders every time the Celtics scored and outplayed the other team. But before I blew up my cool, Bela showed up with her grandpa and its Howell's turn to be irritated because our daughter started chanting her equally favorite TV rhyme, “change channel, change channel”, and no amount of pleading could hardly make Bela gave way. I could almost felt Howell’s disappointment and as he poignantly pressed the TV control for Playhouse Disney channel. That could have made me happy because I will be no longer be irritated by his tapping that sometimes came heavy, yet I could not help but pity him.

Then someone interceded to Howell’s rescue and that’s grandpa. She took Bela to sleep at their house but before they left, grandpa said, the game was a replay so let your dad watched how his Celtics was trounced in the game

There was a grim at Howell’s face as he turned the channel back to NBA action. His tapping on me stopped as he continued to watch the game silently; probably he lost the excitement from the words that grandpa left. But to my surprised he was jumping and shouting with joy all of a sudden. I could hardly understand why because the game was still on going with barely 3 minutes left and according to grandpa the Celtics was beaten. As it turned out grandpa was only kidding Howell on the result of the game, but true enough that a team was trounced but not my husband’s favorite team.

Still working overtime

Posted by abie on 11:41 PM in ,
Howell has been working overtime for the last three weeks. I pity him since he always have to go home late and then come to work early the next day since they really need to finish the project. And since he just recently got promoted, he is carrying all the responsibilities for this project.

He is fast asleep now. He worked overtime again yesterday until 5 AM that’s why he was not able to go home also. I hope this project will be finish soon so Howell can get his much needed rest. Oh well, all of this in exchange for a few hundred bucks increase in his salary.

I’m so happy. I have been waiting for it for months now and finally it came. Actually I was not really expecting it already as I got tired of waiting and expecting. But then when I read the email, I got surprised since I was not really expecting it and I was really filled with joy and excitement.

This would be a new endeavor for me. Val and Ems, do you know what I’m talking about? I bet you would. Do you think I can do it?

Oh well, I guess it’s just a matter of time management and prioritizing things. But for now, I’m overly happy for the news that I got today.

Me and my hair

Posted by abie on 11:19 PM in

I’m a low maintenance type of girl. I can go out without make up or I can just wear a jeans and a shirt for a day out. But there is one thing that I should not miss doing every morning and that is to iron my hair. Ever since I had a hair cut, I hate the length since it is neither short nor long so if I don’t iron it, my hair will be very unruly. So every morning I have to do my early morning routine of ironing my hair.

But my hair iron gave up on me. It is no longer working. Hmm, does this mean I need to buy a new one or should I just go to the salon for my much needed hair rebond?

My dad’s old car

Posted by abie on 10:51 PM in
My dad just sent our van at the shop for repair. He has not been using it for the longest time since it really needs some major check up and repair. Initially he wanted to sell it because it is not being put to good use. But my brother thought that it just needs some reconditioning and it will be running in perfect condition again.

The technician just gave us a call and he said that he needs to replace the transmission. Hearing that made my father a little worried since he knows that transmission is a little expensive. But the technician assured my father that he should not worry of the price since he will just be buying a used car transmission from midwest auto recycling. And even though it is already used, all their transmissions are test driven, visually inspected and cleaned so we can still be sure that it is reliable.

The technician said that we can get the van this weekend. My father is really excited already to drive his old car again.

Recall the most treasured conversation you had with your mother.

When I was still single, I’m really not that open with my mom specially when it comes to sharing with her my love life. But when I got married and gave birth to my daughter that is the time that we really became close.

I treasure all the conversations that I had with my mother. We totally click since we agree with almost everything. There are times that she will give me pieces of advice to on how to make my marriage last, how to take good care of my daughter and all motherly tips that she can share with me. What I love about her is that she totally listens to me. And so she can give me good advice because she listens with her heart.

I love it also when she shares her problems with me and I share my problems with her too. She is the first person that I can think of if I wanted to talk to someone about anything. She is like my best friend because no matter what the topic is, she will always give me her listening ear,

To my mom, you are the best mother anyone can ever have. Thank you for all the things you have done for us. We love you very much! Happy Mother’s Day!!

Lost Bills Again

Posted by abie on 11:48 PM in
I forgot to pay our Meralco bill before the due date. I got a call from my mom this morning asking me if I already paid our Meralco bill since Meralco is in our area and are disconnecting the service of those who haven’t paid the bill. My mom was informed by one of the electrician from Meralco that ours will be disconnected too.

I tried to remember if I paid any electricity bill for this month and I really can’t recall that I made any payment. Then I realized that I didn’t receive any bill that’s why I did not remember to make any payment. My house help said that she did not see any electricity bill for this month too.

This happen a number of times already. Most of the time, we don’t receive the bill since the mailman will just insert it in our door or window since we don’t have those mailboxes where the mailman can leave the bills safely.

Good thing my mom knows the electrician from Meralco and so they did not disconnect our electricity line. Otherwise, it will be one hell of an afternoon for my daughter. Imagine, it is summer and we don’t have electricity.

My husband said that we should really have those locking mailboxes installed in front of our gate so the mailman can leave all our mails and bills safely in those mailboxes. My husband promised to have it done this weekend.

Weekend Snapshot # 1 - The Mangroves

This picture was taken by my husband as part of his entry to the Biay Festival Contest sponsored by the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority. (You can check my other blog for the other entry that he submitted which landed in the finals). This is taken at the Mangroves in Subic Bay.

My dad used to drive around Subic and so he is familiar with the area. And so he brought my husband to this place so my husband can take a picture of it for the contest.

McDo Kiddie Crew and Café Monaco

Posted by abie on 10:41 PM in , ,
Last Thursday was a holiday. We just stayed at home almost the entire day because I still have a lot of backlogs to finish. After lunch, my uncle invited us to visit her daughter at Mc Donalds Retiro since I enrolled her daughter their for the kiddie crew program. Her schedule is from 2:00 – 4:00 PM.

Unfortunately Bela was still sleeping so we have to wait for her to wake up before we can go to Mc Donalds. Good thing she woke up a little past 3:00 PM. When we arrived at Mc Donalds, they are already doing their art work. Bela immediately played with her Tita Aliah and my cousin was so proud that we visited her there.

It was already their fourth day for the program and my cousin said that she really enjoyed it. She learned to be confident in front of other people, she gained new friends, and she was able to do something memorable for summer. There was a kid around 3.5 years who is part of the program so I’m planning to let my daughter join the program next year with her Tita Aliah and Tito Jego.

Here are some pictures that Howell took when we’re there.

After Mc Donalds, we invited them for a merienda, at where else, Café Monaco. We are so totally addicted to this restaurant that every time we are in the Banawe area, we always have to have a quick bite there. We ordered Bibimbop, California Roll, Beef Ramen, Mango Crepe and mixed fruits crepe. And they really enjoyed the food.

Of course Howell was not able to take a picture of the food, but here are some shots that he took while we’re in the restaurant.

Another Weekend

Posted by abie on 10:28 PM in
We had a quiet weekend. Bela has no swimming class yesterday so we just stayed at home since I have to finish also my backlogs (Yes, I am that swamped this week). I slept around 1 AM since I want to finish everything so I can just spend the whole Sunday with Bela.

Sunday, we went to hear mass at San Felipe Neri where Howell’s brother is the mass officiator. We also met with Howell’s there. After mass, we proceed to Jollibee for merienda. Bela loves this branch of Jollibee since she really enjoy playing at the slide and climbing up the maze.

After our short merienda, we parted ways with Howell’s family and we dropped by at SM San Lazaro to buy a gift for our neighbor’s son who celebrated his 1st birthday today. We we’re not able to attend the party since we already made a promise to Howell’s mom that we will hear mass with them this week.

When we reached home I was so dead tired already. We did not ask our yaya to go with us. I like it that way than to deal with her “kaartehan.” But I like it since I was the only one taking care of Bela the entire time. This is our bonding moment before I go back to work again for a week. It’s tiring, yes. But I like it because I was able to spend more quality time with my baby.

Feeling Guilty

Posted by abie on 12:41 AM in ,
The last couple of days, I have been busy with work that sometimes I have to bring home work at home during the weekdays and even during weekends. This means I can’t play with my daughter, I can’t watch movies with her and sometimes I can’t even put her to sleep.

I really feel guilty and I really feel sad too and it makes me miss my baby so much. I’m almost done with my backlogs. I still have another day to spend with her later. It’s already 1 AM and I hope I can finish everything before I go to sleep so I can make it up with my daughter and tomorrow, nothing will ever take my time and attention away from her.

So much for the whining. I have to go to back to work so I can finish all of this and I also need to hit the sack soon as I feel that my eyes will close anytime now.

Living in a modern age

Posted by abie on 12:29 AM in
They say that the Philippines is considered as the texting capital of the world. Based from the statistics, there are 35 million cellular phone subscribers here in the Philippines and everyday, 350 to 400 million SMS messages are being sent. Imagine how much data that is. Aside from cellular phones, the number of households who have internet is also increasing. Almost all of us depend heavily on our cellphones and on the Internet to perform our day to day tasks. I for one use the Internet to pay my bills, buy anything online, do my banking transactions, purchase airline tickets, book hotel accommodations to name just a few. I also rely on my cellphone to communicate with the world.

And with the development of new technology like the powerful SIM Cards, where you can use it to connect to the Internet, increase in the dependency and use of people on this kind of technology will surely increase.

We rely heavily on the Internet and cellphones to send information to other people. That’s why it is also an issue that technology should also provide for the safety and security of the information that we send. Good thing there are companies who develop technology for digital security to protect our digital interactions. They implement ways like OTP (one time password) solution to provide strong authentication thereby protecting the data that consumers send online.

Technology is really good since it help us do our task faster and conveniently. We are lucky because we live in an age where technology is always available to help us make our lives easier and at the same time it is secure that we will always have confidence and peace of mind for all our digital interactions.

PDA and the world of Medicine

Posted by abie on 8:06 PM in ,
Today is a holiday. For us, we just stayed at home for the majority of the day while my brother manages our cellphone store in Greenhills. Since there are a lot of people at the mall today, sales was pretty good and we’re able to meet our quota for the day.

One of the customers that we had today was a physician. He purchased an Apple Iphone from us. He said that if he doesn’t need it for his job, he will not purchase an iphone because he just prefers a simple phone where he can call or send SMS messages. But he got convince to buy one after he saw the free medical applications for iphone that his colleague is using.

The Iphone of his colleague was loaded with a medical reference software containing a drug guide which he uses as reference when giving prescriptions to his patients. He said that this software will be very useful for him so he immediately troop to Greenhills to buy an Iphone.

That’s interesting. I then realized that there are really a lot of things that we can do with our cellphones aside from calling and sending SMS.

This announcement was paid for by Epocrates.
